How do guests call a waiter or ask for the bill from their phone?

From the same screen they order on. A tap on the waiter button, or a message in the chat, puts the call on your floor screen within seconds; staff tap Ack and go over. Asking for the check works the same way, and the chat asks whether they'll pay by cash or card. All evening the guest sees a live bill with your own service charge and tax, and can split it. Payment stays with your staff: WaiterPilot takes no payments.

What does a waiter call look like?

The guest taps the bell button or asks in the chat. Their screen shows "Waiter call pending"; your staff see the table, "Wants a waiter", how long it has waited and an Ack button.

Guest phone: the guest writes Could you call the waiter to our table please; the chat replies that it has called the waiter, and a Waiter call pending bar shows at the top.
Real screenshot "Could you call the waiter to our table please?" The chat confirms, and the pending call stays at the top of the guest's screen.
Floor service screen: a call card for Table Demo 1 reading Wants a waiter, 5 minutes, 4:38 PM, Pending, with an Ack button, above the table list.
Real screenshot Floor service screen. The call card shows the table, the request, minutes waiting and Ack. Calls change colour as they wait, at 1, 5 and 10 minutes.

Real screenshot Main board. The same call in the Requests panel, next to the table's tickets, so a manager sees calls and orders together.

How does the check request work?

The guest taps Check please on the Bill tab or asks in the chat. The chat asks "Will you be paying with cash or card?", so the server knows whether to bring the card machine.

Guest phone: the guest writes And can we have the check please; the chat replies Sure thing! Will you be paying with cash or card?
Real screenshot "And can we have the check please?" The reply asks cash or card. The check request then reaches the floor screen with the answer.
Bill tab: orders 66 and 67 marked In kitchen, subtotal 19.00 JOD, Service 5% 0.95 JOD, Tax 7.5% 1.43 JOD, total 21.38 JOD, Split the bill, and a Check please button.
Real screenshot The live bill. Every order at the table with its status, the subtotal, this restaurant's Service 5% and Tax 7.5%, the total, Split the bill, and Check please.

Our test stopped at the cash-or-card question, so the screenshots don't show the check card on the floor screen.

Where do the service charge and tax on the bill come from?

From you. You set your own bill lines, such as tax, a service charge or a gratuity, at the rates you choose. WaiterPilot takes no commission.

At Broadnet Cafe the owner set Service 5% and Tax 7.5%. On a 19.00 JOD subtotal that came to 0.95 JOD service and 1.43 JOD tax, both counted on the food, for a total of 21.38 JOD. The bill updates as the table orders more, on every phone at the table.

There is no tip button for guests. If you add a gratuity, it is a line you set, like any other charge. You can also hide prices and the Bill tab from guests if you prefer.

Can guests split the bill?

Yes. From Split the bill, guests split the total evenly or see just their own share, based on what each phone ordered. They then pay your staff the way they do today.

  • Split evenly. The table's total, shared equally.
  • Just my share. Only what was ordered from this phone.
  • Payment. In cash or on your card terminal, with your staff. WaiterPilot does not take payment and is not connected to your POS, so your team rings up the sale in your till as usual.

What do staff do with a request?

Watch the floor screen, tap Ack, go to the table. Ack tells the rest of the team someone has it.

  • Who watches. Servers keep the Floor service screen on a phone or tablet you already have. The main board shows the same calls for the manager.
  • Ack. One tap, so two servers don't walk to the same table.
  • Optional calls. Restaurants can also turn on calls for shisha coals and valet, each with its own screen, like the Charcoal and Valet tabs at Broadnet Cafe.
  • When the table leaves. Staff close the table from the staff screen, ready for the next guests.
  • Phone alerts. Staff phones can get alerts; on an iPhone they need the staff board added to the Home Screen.
